Title: Updating Task Values in Unanet

Brief description:

Tips and best practices for managing and updating task values in Unanet via the Task List.

What’s covered in this document:

Determine what values to output

Some standard scenarios prompting task related field value updates in project management are:

  • Updating the project schedule via task dates or task durations (possibly including dependencies)
  • Updating task budgets (for billing or cost on both labor and expense)
  • Updating Unanet User Defined Fields (possibly for adding values to integrate with a downstream system)

Task Search Tab

When you click on Tasks > List in the menu, the task Search screen is displayed. From this screen, you can specify what tasks and task attributes you would like included in the resulting list of tasks. (Note that the default setting is to land on the List tab instead of the Search tab.)

Select the proper Column Options for output on the task list based on what values you need to update. For example:

Updating the project schedule, via task dates or task duration's (possibly including dependencies)

    • Select the Rev. Begin Date, Rev. End Date and possibly Duration
    • Click on the 'TAB' to produce the resulting task list
  • Updating task budget data (for billing or cost on both labor and expense)
    • Select the appropriate budget fields, possibly including Funded Value
    • Click on the 'TAB' to produce the resulting task list

  • Updating Unanet User Defined Fields (for possibly adding values to integrate with a downstream system)
    • Select the appropriate User Defined Fields
    • Click on the 'TAB' to produce the resulting task list

Updating Values

The power of producing a customized output of tasks in a list is the ability to update all of the values easily on one screen.

Task List

Once you have selected the proper output options /fields to be updated from the Search tab, click on List tab. You can edit all tasks by clicking on the edit all icon . The fields available for editing are determined by the Column Options on the Search tab. When making changes to the displayed fields, other fields not included in the display will not have their previously saved values modified.

  • Modify some or all values and then SAVE
  • (If tasks have dependencies, the dates will follow their parent tasks and be  modified appropriately)

.

Saving Task Display Settings

Once you have designed your task display criteria the way you want, you can save the display to always present those exact criteria instead of the default task names, dates and active status. To do this, click on "Save Criteria" in the upper right.
